So - get ready to brighten up your Christmas home with a Flaky Snow table runner. This runner is made in beautiful Lewis and Irene 100% cotton fabric. Enjoy.
Everyone who works with fabric knows that you have to minimise the cabbage - no, not the leafy green vegetable - but those bits of fabric left are cutting out whatever time on which you are working. Being a fan of patchwork, there are very few scraps leftover which cannot be used. Triangles go into one bag, strips of fabric into another, larger scraps sorted by colour into different bags. But, there are some scraps which are just too small to use. These go into another big bag. This bag doesn't go into the rubbish to be consigned to landfill. No, this bag goes to a local charity, Phyliis Tuckwell Hospice. They sell fabric cabbage as 'rag' to raise funds...
I have been working on a sampler quilt for some time - I use sample blocks when clients want to order a bespoke quilt or cushions. They can see what a block will actually look like in reality. Instead of carrying around a bag of sample blocks, I am now going to join them all together. These are the blocks lined up on the floor - watch this space for the finished article which will then be available to buy!
I hand finish the binding of quilts. I like doing it and I like the finished product. However, I was just on the final stretch of a 48 x 48 ins snuggle quilt when I pricked my finger. Result, blood all over the binding and border - over about 14 ins. Disaster. No point trying to wash out, so I cut out the bits and recut and sewed in the replacements from nice blood free fabric. Now all good! It'll be on the website soon.
Isn't IT wonderful? Except when it isn't! Our website has been down for only 10 days, but SOOOOO annoying - just when we were posting lots of new products. Well, such is life, we learn and move on. Do check our the new bags, table linens and coasters on the site. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Flaky Snow Store!
