Memory Jog - Africa

Many years ago, I got to spend time in Africa.  It wasn't an altogether safe time to go, but that which I always remember from that time are the people (wonderful), the smells (interesting!) and the beautiful colours which inspired the senses.  My thoughtful son gave me some African fabrics a while back and I finally made something for us.  (Although I can take orders for something similar, it won't be identical - message me for details).  Lots of memories.  I'll be hanging it on the wall once I've added a few tassels.

Quilting on the road

Have discovered the little HobbyCraft sewing machine Perfect for taking with me away from home. Used it at the cottage in the Peak District - hubby was comfy on the sofa reading a good book - so I retired to the kitchen in front of the Aga and did some sewing! Woodland quilt

Hi everyone It's a cold snowy day outside, so it's a good time to catch up with what has been happening at Flaky Snow. It's been a difficult year so far, but working on textiles and quilts has been a wonderful distraction.  Here's a new bespoke quilt we've just finished for a little lad called Rupert.  His parents have created a woodland themed nursery in bright colours.  This is what we created.  It uses an old patchwork design called Cathedral Steps as a basis - with a twist of course because that's how we roll at Flaky Snow! We used the QAYG (quilt as you go) sashing method and a quilt pattern based on an Orange Peel template which we moved...
